Grand Rising family!

Hoping this issue finds you well and happy this September day!

As we are in election season here in the United States, and we are faced with the continuing question of what is blackness, in today’s issue I am doing a very brief look of the color and partly a take away from my reading of “From The Browder File”, by Anthony T. Browder, Introduction by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III.

In his section on page 11 of “On The Color Black”, baba Anthony Browder asks the question of why the color black has been thought of as negative, and clarifies that this was not always the case! I am riveted by this book, and cannot put it down as he points to direct examples and historical facts which lead us all to look forward to in learning more, forever learning about ourselves.

I placed the photograph of a distinguished brother above in black tie. Anthony Browder mentions in his book:

“…The facts are very plain. Black has always been, and will continue to be, a source of power and influence….”

He lists a number of items that are of importance and prestige that are always “black” in color which service a specific function, including that Solar energy cells are black and that judges wear black robes, just to name two facts. I also want to mention wearing “black tie” as above.
